We hope you enjoy meeting some of our clients and reading about our adventures in housecall cat grooming. |
| Meet Snuffles (aka Snoof). This lovely tortie sem-longhair always has a lot to say about her grooming session. (Most torties are talkative anyway!) She's a true success story for housecall grooming. She was scared of the clippers and wasn't sure about all the combing, but after a few visits, she stretches out on the grooming table and enjoys her pampering. After she's done, she strolls around the house to show off her new haircut to the rest of the family. |

Q:When is a black cat not a black cat?
A: When it gets a haircut! As you can see from these photos, Blackie, Winnie and Sam looked a lot different than Mom might have expected after they were clipped. (I always discuss things like this with them before the groom, so they aren't surprised by the result)

It's not unusual for a cat to look solid black on top, but be shades of gray underneath. When you shorten that coat, voila ... you have a cat of a different color. Black cats can also have rusty brown places in their coat that comes from being in the sun, even if they've only been exposed to the sun on a screened porch! |

| Now here's something different. Fergus, a longhair Scotish Fold, is a Black Smoke. Unlike a solid black cat, a smoke has a true white undercoat. You can see the difference in the clipped photo - the coat is snow white. |

| Fattie is a very shy longhair Manx who was having trouble keeping her thick coat groomed well. Manx are known for having a double coat texture, which is really dense. Without regular grooming, they can develop mats, even though their fur isn't anywhere as long as a Persians. Mom wasn't sure she'd behave because of her shy personality ... she had a good hiding place under the bed when I arrived! But with gentle handling, she proved to be a real trooper ... and by the second visit, let me use the Clipper Vac to give her a pretty haircut. This isn't a shave ... there's a nice plush coat covering her body and she seemed happy with the result. |

| Teddy is a gigantic brown tabby Maine Coon. He weighs almost 25 lbs. and there isn't an ounce of fat on him. He recently had a harrowing experience when he ventured out of the pool enclosure and fell into the canal. Not realizing where he'd gone, the search began. Dad finally saw him struggling and jumped in after him. Teddy was exhausted and had cut his paws on the barnacles on the pilings, trying to climb out. Miraculously, he survived without further complications. His favorite place to take a break when I'm grooming him is in the bathtub ... but without the water, please. |

| LeLe is a precious tortie point who is a prima donna. She must consult with Fattie to discover good hiding places, because we've had some real field trips around the house trying to find her! She gives me vocal directions thoughout the groom on just how to fix her hair so she likes it and is always happy with the results. |
